Field Rules – Turbine Operations 

1.  Comply with the AMA Gas Turbine Program.

2.  All club members who hold a turbine waiver shall successfully complete 2 turbine flights under the supervision of a club Executive Committee member prior to unsupervised turbine operation at the club field.

3.  A B/C rated fire extinguisher capable of extinguishing an engine fire must be present for all turbine engine operations. A 5 pound CO2 extinguisher is recommended.

4.  Each turbine pilot will have a filled 5 gallon water sprayer plus at least one person capable of assisting with fire fighting duties present when operating a turbine.  Position this firefighting equipment for an immediate response to a crash site or downed aircraft.

5.  Turbine operations are not allowed during drought conditions (Intensity D1, Moderate Drought, or greater) as determined by the U.S. Drought Monitor at https://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/CurrentMap/StateDroughtMonitor.aspx?AL

6.  Use an overflow tank or catch pan during fueling to avoid killing the grass.

7.  All turbine aircraft high speed or low passes will be no closer than the eastern (farthest from the pits) edge of the runway.

8.  A spotter is required if 2 or more turbine aircraft are flying.
